Beauty and athletic talent can be a powerful combination, and Winifer Fernández discovered that firsthand when volleyball highlights suddenly transformed her into an international internet sensation.

Born January 6, 1995, in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, the 31-year-old Dominican volleyball star grew up in Cienfuegos and began playing volleyball at only 10 years old. By 2009, she had moved to Santo Domingo to join the Dominican junior national program.

The featured video showcases what made Winifer such an unlikely viral celebrity: a beautiful Dominican athlete displaying genuine elite-level volleyball skills on the court.

Playing libero, the 5-foot-7 Fernández built her reputation through speed, defense, digging and receiving. Long before the internet became obsessed with her looks, she was collecting serious volleyball honors. At just 15, she was named Best Libero, Best Digger and Best Receiver at the 2010 NORCECA U18 Championship. She later won MVP honors at the 2012 NORCECA U20 Championship.
