Cardi B – “Like What (Freestyle)”: Sexy, Rich and Completely in Control

Cardi B doesn't just walk into a mansion in “Like What (Freestyle)”—she looks like she owns the entire place.

Born October 11, 1992, in the Bronx, New York, Cardi is 33 years old, American, and a Libra, with a Dominican father and Trinidadian mother.

The concept behind the video is surprisingly simple: Cardi B, looking ridiculously sexy, surrounded by extreme luxury.

Director Offset places her inside a spectacular glass-covered hillside mega-mansion with huge windows, circular architecture, a pool and enough open space to make Cardi herself the centerpiece.

And she takes full advantage of it.

Cardi struts through the mansion wearing a black bikini beneath an enormous fur coat, dripping in jewelry with crystal-covered eyebrows—a visual tribute to Missy Elliott, whose 1999 classic “She’s a Bitch” provides the track's sample. Another look pays homage to Lil' Kim.

Later she's lounging beside the pool on a red sofa, casually eating sushi from a Yves Saint Laurent bag, before appearing in a sparkling diamond-covered bikini and chaps for a glamorous photo shoot.

There's barely a conventional storyline because there doesn't need to be one. The mansion represents wealth and status, while Cardi's revealing fashion, curves, jewelry and attitude provide the spectacle.

The message is basically: I'm rich, I'm sexy, I'm still here—and everybody is watching.

The closing words, “This is just the beginning… stay tuned,” turn the entire video into a glamorous announcement that Cardi B was officially back.
